http://www.mangatraders.com/manga/series/4333

First of all, go to the page in the above link and DL all of it. Then read it. Then come back here.

...

Congratulations! You'll just read one of the best manga out there. In fact, in my opinion, this manga is the best.

The characters are great. If it were possible to fall in love with a cartoon, I fallen for the main female character. She's mature, courageous, and kind. She's truly feminine. There's no other manga with a female character like this. The plot is very good. Most importantly, the art is some of the best I've ever seen with clean and clear backgrounds. Best of all, the manga is a serious and realistic look at the time period it portrays.

The only flaw is the age difference between the characters.

I actually stopped work on my term paper to read all of this. I couldn't stop! Cheesy

Well it isn't like the mangaka (Mori Kaoru) hasn't done good work before with strong female leads. Still this is a nice change for her since it isn't set in England and it doesn't have that silly air I often found detracted from Emma (in my opinion).

I will admit that this is a very very good series. Certainly one out of the best out there and I thank you for the recommendations, but I still don't think that it out ranks Vinland Saga.

This is a good series. The manga has both strong plot and characters (Of course, it's seinen!).
And it's been a while since I've come across a female lead having strong characteristics without losing her femininity.
I'm actually okay with the age difference. It provides an avenue for character growth for the part of the guy.

Yeah, the age difference is okay. It will also keep this a bit more unique. The art is gorgeous and the story interesting but it's good to have also other points going on for it. Besides, since this is a historical series, ages weren't observed as strictly as they are today (in some parts of the world, anyway). Needless to say, it's good the girl is the older one.

This is one long ride, though, but it's more easily forgiven due to the exquisite level of detail.

Long? How many Japanese volumes are there?

Also, to clarify, I have no problem with the age difference when it comes to the marriage proper, but the lovey dovey stuff between the two of them is disturbing for me.

I meant long because it has already taken so long for nine scanlated chapters to be released and it's a monthly released series anyway, I reckon.

It might be disturbing for me as well if it was a little girl and an older man but with a young lad and an older girl I don't find it disturbing at all...

Yet in times past, very often it was the girl who was much younger, and married off, in order to bear as many children as she could as in those times life expectancy, and years of successful childbirth, were considerably shortened.

I have to say I am really enjoying this, and I have already read up too chapter 9. I have never read anything close to this, so I am very happy you showcased it Darroth, thank you.

Hello, everyone, update time. The chapter 11 raw is up on manga helpers and it is being translated as we speak, after which I'll upload it.

In other news, apparently the mangaka got the idea for the story when she found some central Asian arts stuff and she started drawing wildly. http://iitran.secchan.net/img/src/1267053438256.jpg

Also, watch Mrs. Mori draw Amira: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfENoePp36o&feature=PlayList&p=DD3A716F8CD68E74&playnext_from=PL&index=1&playnext=2

Chapter 12 is up! I was wondering where the mangaka was going with the latest story arc, it looks like things are getting interesting!

Did you download it, or read it online, because I don't see it on their site.
Never mind, I have it. ^_^

Man, I hope Mr. Smith somehow ends up with Tarasu. I have no idea where the mangaka is going with this, is this the end of the arc?
