I use mangaupdates.com to search for series to read so I don't bump into yaoi while browsing. But I think that having this option would be a good thing. Those who want to filter manga can just activate filter and...voalaa, no yaoi for you. As far as my case goes I don't care but I know there are people out there who DO care.

I really don't mind the yaoi stuff, but I think that putting the genres besides the title when you search is a good idea for thos that are sensitive (i.e.Martial arts/mecha/yaoi)

I really think is a waste of time for the administrators, if you don't like yaoi and shonen ai, just ignore the series with these genre, and thats it.

Thanks Yukimura for the work that you've done!!!
For those complaining about browsing and stuff you can always go to a site that specializes in archiving manga, those type of sites tend to have options for picking the genre that you want.
You don't have to necessarily search the manga here, you can go to other sites as reference...

Well, I just wanted to say THANKS! for all the hard work
I love yaoi but sometimes it bothers me that all the Newest Series list is full of it... I do read other stuff you know? :-)
Anyway, I can't wait to see the improvements, thank you Yukimura-sama, I hope you have sweet (yuri) dreams tonight XD

If this option would be quick and easy to implement, there's no reason not to.

But if it'd take a lot of work and coding, no need. It's not that big a deal.

a filter that can be customized by people should be install... ( i m not interested in manga type that are targeting women)

I'm proud to claim that gay or lesbian manga like yuri yaoi and shonen ai are digusting to me, and i have nothing of a prepubere child. gay is just unnatural Smiley to me (as I accept others to read those things, people, that are actually the prepubere one, should accept the fact that yaoi can be seen as disguting things). I have nothing against those upload but i get annoyed when i see yaoi yaoi yaoi shounen ai everywhere in the list of news.

Nice work your site is really the best by its number of manga Smiley.

Hiya. First of all, I think this site is the best! Actually i downloaded a few trap cards as well and didn't know they were yaoi/shounen ai and it's no biggie. So i think it would just be a waste of time just to put a filter.

I'd like the filter but only to cut down the huge selection here on MT, I don't like any same sex pairings but it is for very personal reasons, but I don't care if someone else likes it, to each their own, and not everyone has the same reasons as myself. I hope the filter is implemented.

Please don't bother wasting time, i guess if someone have the urge to download manga from this site, the surely need to learn by themself how to avoid mangas they don't like, as in many other sites. If they can't... Well.. They need to learn somehow Cheesy

Thank you everyone for your hard work!

That said, I love yaoi and shounen ai myself, but of course I can see that some people don't.

HOWEVER. Filters would seem bigoted, as the rule is quite simple: Don't like, don't bother. Easy as pie. I stay the heck away from Harem manga, because that is totally not my cuppa. I don't demand a filter for say, Love Hina, now do I? Ugh.

I think genre filtering would be extremely useful when filtering through subjects. Like when you want a action/romance vs school life/romance, instead of just having to sift through mountains all semi-related manga to find what you are looking for.
On a side note Mangafox.com offers genre filtering and I often just go there to sift through the genres for manga's I am interested in and then come back here to download them.
It would just be easier to have filtering here especially on the new updates, where the genre is not immediately.
Anyway I like the site, and I am not really expecting anything to happen out of this because honestly it not really vital to the operation of this site. Although I would really like it. (^.')

I guess this mean "Thank You very much for the maintaining mangatraders.com alive and the hard work". Even though I was against the filter, there is no more need for people to debate about there being a filter or not since it been done. Now, it's time to move forward and be happy with what we got. Undecided

Frankly, if i were to "filter out" a genre by my own choice, it would be "horror". But i don't really think its necessary, since the genres ARE listed with each manga, and if i recall correctly we can add to the genre list under a manga if it happens to be missing one that we feel is important to list... It did take me a few days to figure out how this site basically works, but then, I'm tech-challenged. (Grin.)
I like the shounen ai/yaoi genres, so no complaint there. And so what if what i download isn't what i hoped it was? I can just delete it. I do that alot when checking out series that i haven't seen elsewhere. It's called 'trial and error'. Sorry, but "Duh!"
