Yeah, this is basically the crux of it, as tsukishen wrote. They don't try to be popular. They stay unpopular, gather up in unpopular cliques, and enjoy their unpopular martyrdom far too much. Don't underestimate the satisfaction in wallowing in your own misery.

Lol read the half of the article, so far it makes sense but God is it long!!
True enough in grade 7-8 i didnt bother about looks (sue me LoL) got passed around and bullied T_T until recently.. I changed schools (we moved houses) and I decided to start all over (while trying to somehow keep the smart kid inside the "outer" appearance). Guess what happened when the people from my old school saw me.. I hear "Oh dude is that you?" coming out from them suddenly and somehow for some reason they treat you with a bit of more respect (I still hate those people who beat the crap outta me in Grades 7-8) Warning a bit of irony here: I'm actually right now being like what I hated and feared of becoming one before, hanging out with those kinds of people. They're not that bad - some are nice but there can also be total morons out there. I hang out with mostly everyone its not like I shun and kick nerds out (I am one. Voila o_o) Seriously looks matter now that I think about it. Just wear branded clothes that are NOT outdated and keep cool... while at home study and learn like a freak and Ace your tests while owning everyone in class in both grades AND looks. Fear us. Har har har.

i was a nerd and i used to absolutely HATE talking about my grades. maybe you should learn more about nerds before throwing a comment? plus, beats me why i should try to be popular when half the time the people around me cant help but talk about me. i mean, why would i budge in a conversatoin that is clearly already about me? let them do the talking. sit back, relax and listen to what the chemistry teacher's telling me. i'll definitely learn something i didn't know before (since obviously i know all about myself). which is what schools are for anyway... right?

You need to check my school cause they will piss you off. The curriculum is crazy high and half of them have 4.6 GPAs and 2300s on their SAT score and here they go about bitching about failing when they have an 88 in an AP class.

I read about half of it,...too many words
I classify myself as a nerd(I get A's or B's on tests)but im pretty popular,and i dont get bullied at all in school
I hang out with nerds and the sports jocks at my school
I dont play sports, the thought of physical exercise tires me out
When i was in primary school i got bullied and when i reached secondary school,i became a lot more outgoing and friendlier towards people

I thought that article was pretty interesting and i also believe that some nerds couldnt be bothered with being popular...like some of my nerdy friends

Some of my "Jock" friends want to be a lot smarter and they actually try studying rather than slacking off in class
