It's a short month but costs are the same and donations are low once again as we enter the final week of the month. As many of you should know by now I really hate having to make these sorts of posts. I feel that those who can and wish to donate would have already done so. If I have to keep reminding people it seems like a sign that the site isn't valuable enough to the community support itself. In any case, I've gotten word from the top that if we don't meet our donation goal this month then everything will probably be shut down as it's a lot of hassle to keep MT running especially while taking care of a family. If the community can't keep the site afloat then that's just the way it is. It's mildly ironic that during the month of February we introduced several new and I believe useful features with even more planned yet this seems to be one of the worst months for donations in terms of % of goal reached / % of days left in month. I have no evidence that these two events are related, but it's still worth a sad chuckle to know that the more we did the less people we able or willing to give. I'll save the whole reflections on the site speech for if the site really does have to shut down but hopefully it won't come to that. I haven't looked that hard into the status of the scanslation community recently but from what I have seen and heard post count requirements and other forms of scanslations for false friendship policies seem to be more prevalent now than they were a few years ago. I guess I should be thankful I've spent so much time working on this site that I don't have time to read much manga. But, there are still 6 days left till the end of the month and you all have managed to save the site before, can you do it again?
tl;dr We need to make $330US in 6 days or the site shuts down!
EDIT: Apparently we received over $350 in about 5 hours. Our thanks to all those who donated both before and after this post. But please remember I'll be right back here with another alarmist posts near the end of next month if the same sort of behavior persists...

Is there a way to pick up more income from advertisers or something without completely whoring out the site? Some way to make it less dependent on donations? It's worrying that just a minor lapse in donations and the whole site could shut down

Not that i'm one to talk, since I didn't even once donate (not that i can, since i'm living in lebanon, and their is no paypal here ), but i want to say THANK ALL OF THOSE who have donate to keep this site working. Yes, I think, that except the admins, those who are realy pleased, what am i saying... delighted are... at least... me. Maybe some other. I don't know... ok ok ... all the members coming regulary here.

Just put in 10. Whenever u need funding, just voice it. I'm sure people need this site enough to donate and keep it running, but no one really pay attention if you don't tell them. U guys have done great, so keep at it. A little bit of curiosity, but the link to Hentaitraders on the blue bar has been removed (but the link back here from that site's still on). Having disagreement? (or unless it's u running both, I don't know how the two work)

erm, I was going to tell Yukimura not to panic, and that (at least one) donator(s) actually wait for the last couple of days to see what the shortfall is... - but I guess that pep talk is not needed now

The Dollar is expensive now =/ Please keep reminding, when i go onto the site i'm mostly so focused on what i want =) that i will pay no attention unless it's a big post. I do like the Scratched out already downloaded manga =), since i'm notorious for not remembering unimportant stuff.

Fiuh, that was really close. I think I need to give lot of thanks to the donators. Maybe some advertisements can decrease the need of donations? Yeah, I know that some members hate advertisements. But with these, maybe we don't need to really worry about if the site don't meet the donation's requirement.

Honestly I have a tendency to forget the last time I donated as well (ie, was it this month or last month). Mayhaps you can offer a subscription model via paypal? I wouldn't mind having it hit every month; especially since I'd control how much I'm giving...

Ads generally work best if people click on them, we've been changing the ads recently trying to get more clicks but it hasn't been working very well. A subscription system for those who can give something every month but tend to forget might not be a bad idea though.

People are lazy and cheap. We value the site, but so long as the bill is being picked up by someone, we don't feel that we need to be a part of it. That's why "hey, notice that we need more money!" posts are important. Once we realize that other people haven't picked up the tab, we get moving. No need to get extra dramatic about it, we always come through when asked to sdo so, and I don't see that changing any time soon, we just don't always pay as much attention to the site's bottom line as those on the inside, so we need reminders.
As for the new features. . . thank, but all I ever really need from the site is that it has all the anime series that I want to read. If it's a huge hassle to add new features on top of that, don't worry about it.
